From Our Mayor: Welcome to Fort Benton. I know that you will enjoy your visit to Fort Benton! Whether you are planning a family vacation, or day trip, business trip, or a corporate outing, the amenities and friendly people of this community will make your time here an enjoyable and memorable experience. Fort Benton, rich in history, is the county seat of Chouteau County, the largest small-grain producing county in Montana. Signal Point Golf Course, overlooking Fort Benton, offers a challenging nine-hole public course. Fort Benton also offers an outdoor swimming pool, ice-skating during the winter months, two of the best museums in the west and beautiful park system. Picnic shelters in Old Fort Park are available for large or small groups. An outdoor recreation area next to the pool accommodates, basketball, horseshoes and tennis. Besides being the gateway to the Wild and Scenic Upper Missouri River, Fort Benton is located near to all of the spectacular scenery and historical sites of North Central Montana and some of the finest camping, hiking and blue ribbon fishing in the spring, summer and fall - all of this on un-crowded highways.
